2010 AGM

A big thank you to everyone who made the effort to turn up to last night AGM of the league. If you didn't bother to turn up and use your vote then you don't really have a right to moan about alterations you don't agree with. The following significant changes were agreed:

1) Changing the minimum number of players required for a team from 8 to 6. The format of play was changed to the following to accommodate this:

Darts: 3 Pairs of 701 and 4 singles of 501
Dominoes: 5 Pairs, but now 3 long games of 61 holes and 2 short games of 31 holes (a player can play both long and short games)

2) Increasing the Registration fees and Player transfer fees by 50p each to £2.50 per player. Everyone agreed to leave the annual competition fees at £1.00 per player to help attract increased interest in these competitions.

3) Playing the Brian Widdowson Bowl competition annually at the Radcliffe RBL with all teams in the league involved with the use of multiple boards and the format reverting back to best of 3 legs. With the current number of teams in the league we can play down to a winner on the night.

4) Rule 2e was changed to the following: 'A minimum of 4 secretaries meetings will be held each season and all teams will be required to send a representative. The dates of these meetings will be set out in the fixture schedule literature given out at the start of a season'.

5) The number of trophies given to teams was reduced from 10 to 8. If teams need more trophies they should state this as soon as they have won something.

6) Use standard peg boards in domino matches, a new rule to be added that reads: 'Teams should only use a standard two track peg board in dominoes matches where players move scoring pegs to the top of the board and back again. The use of non standard peg boards should not be allowed eg. homemade boards where the two tracks are separated and the scoring holes are not housed within the same piece of board which makes keeping track of the scoring pegs more difficult.

The league rules will be updated in due course to reflect these new changes.

AGM 2010 Proposals

Hi everyone,

Below is the proposals that have been received for discussion at the AGM which will take place on Monday 9th August 2010 at The Radcliffe RBL, Main Road, Radcliffe on Trent. starting at 8:00pm. You can also download a copy of the details.

May I also remind you all that we are still looking for a Treasurer due to the resignation of John Wragg, anyone wishing to be considered should attend the AGM.

1) Changing minimum number of players required to 6
As an increasing number of teams are struggling to have the minimum 8 players present at a match, I suggest the minimum requirement of a team is changed to 6 players. I also think this will help in the pursuit of gaining new teams into the league.

To allow this change I propose the following options to change the formats of play for both darts and dominoes:-

Darts
a) Change to 3 Pairs and 6 Singles or
b) 3 Pairs and 4 Singles

Dominoes
a) Keep at 5 Pairs, but playing 3 long games (61 holes) and 2 short games (31 holes), a player can play both long and short games or
b) Change to 3 Pairs

These changes also give greater scope for more people playing more games on an evening, even if you have a bigger team. The shorter dominoes legs are ideal for new players to learn the game and it gives dominoes players the chance to play more games also.

2) Increasing entrance fees to competitions and registration fees by 50p
Therefore fees will be as follows:
Registration Fee - £2.50 per player
Player Transfer Fee - £2.50 per player
Annual Competitions - £1.50 per player per competition

3) Change to Brian Widdowson Bowl competition
To limit the number of spare weeks for teams I think this should be played annually at the Radcliffe RBL. Format to revert back to best of 3 legs and all teams in the league will be involved on the night with numerous boards set up in the legion. Depending on the number of teams in the league this should be played over 1 or 2 league nights. With the current number of teams involved I think this could be played down to a winner on one night.

4) Changing rule 2e about meetings to the following...
A minimum of 4 secretaries meetings will be held each season and all teams will be required to send a representative. The dates of these meetings will be set out in the fixture schedule literature given out at the start of a season.

5) Changing rule 1h about trophies
The league to supply 8 trophies to teams who have won titles instead of 10. If clubs require more trophies they should state this as soon as they have won something.
